Some of the things you will do:

- Play a key role in release development.

- Work closely with creative, product team and other engineers, turning functional specifications into state-of-the-art implementations that drive our network; participate in creative, user interaction and technical design for the system.

Some of things we believe the ideal person will have:

- Proven progressive experience in ruby on rails development from requirements to deployment of production application.

- Proficiency in CSS, HTML, JavaScript.

- Degrees and years of experience are not required; proven ability to build elegant, innovative and scalable applications is.

- Proficiency in the use of off-the-shelf rails components and solutions for custom ruby on rails development.

- Ability to turn napkin diagrams and prototypes of interactions into great-looking, easy-to-use, simple, modular, and robust application components.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Bonus points if you have: web design experience; experience with Adobe Photoshop; Flash.

- Location: San Francisco/Bay Area preferred; will consider telecommuting.

We are developing a fully integrated and scalable web-based management service for the global music industry. Our web based service is being designed to facilitate the scheduling, management, promotion, need to track and manage fragmented revenue and remuneration streams and general accounting for music industry artists managers and supporting organizations.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

- 5+ years of experience (minimum) coding web applications (using PHP, Perl, whatever!) and working with MySQL databases

- At least one year experience working with Ruby on Rails

- A mastery of semantic HTML and CSS

- Some experience with a version control system (such as Subversion)

Project

1. XML Feed System & CSV uploader

a. This module would create a generic XML feed system in which we could build an xml feed by specifying attributes and information about various objects that we store in our system. The end result would be a public XML feed that would be generated in real time when accessed. The feed would contain the data structure that was defined when the feed was created.

The second part of this module would be a scheduled task that consumed a feed from our system and created a CSV (or other format) file from it, and automatically uploaded it to a specified location on that schedule. This is necessary because some services that we would want to integrate with are still old-school and can’t pull our feeds directly.

In real world this project completion allows Dormbuys retail items to sell on Amazon.com & provides feeds for various other comparison shopping websites and our affiliate provider (shareasale.com).
